Are you a person who worries about circumstances in your life? There certainly seems to be plenty of difficulties for us to face individually, as well as fearful events that take place in the world.

Worry is a natural part of our psyches, and when we get overwhelmed with worry it can lead to devastating health problems. Worry in abundance is just not good for us, and it does no good for the ones we worry about.

In Luke 12:25, we read this: “Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life?”

Not only will it not add anything to your life, but medical data tells us it is more prone to decrease our lives by increasing illness.

What about this word, worry? What makes it so harmful to us? Doesn’t everyone worry about something?

While everyone worries about something at one time or another, it is when the worry or worries take over one’s daily life that it becomes harmful to the worrier. The word itself is known as a negative word.

There is another word that can be substituted for worry, and it is a positive word. This word is “concerned.” When we are concerned about something, it becomes the focus of our attention. We feel sympathy. We may even feel anxious and troubled. However, this emotion removes us from panic and overwhelming thoughts that follow intense worry.

When worry takes over our lives, we often are unable to think straight, our minds get muddled. As we become concerned about something that is happening, we can still stay focused and open to acknowledging the things we are able to do to help, including prayer and to focus on God’s healing and comforting Scripture.

“Cast all your cares (anxiety) upon the Lord, for he cares for you,” is a well-known verse from 1 Peter 5:7. Peter shows us the comfort that comes from God when we are upset.

The Bible also tells us that when we worry, we are in a place where we are doubting the goodness of God in our lives.

Do you think God is not concerned about problems? Do you think that God wants you to continue fearing for the future? This is just not true, for we find the words, “fear not,” written in While everyone worries about something at one time or another, it is when the worry or worries take over one’s daily life that it becomes harmful to the worrier. OUR FLESHLY DESIRES

Because the carnal world in which we live offers so much in the way of temptations, it caters to our fleshly desires which is also another big distraction:

Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.

But, praise be to God that through His Holy Spirit we can overcome the temptations of our flesh. We don’t have to give in!

The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.

James 1:14-15 NLT

Empowering Single Moms - I Can't Change

I Can't Change

Empowering Single Moms

play

01/16/23 • 27 min

Today we’re fasting from the thought that says, "I can't change."
We’ve all felt at times that we can’t change a certain habit or a weakness in our lives. We often feel “confined” by whatever has previously “defined” us. But, as we change our mindsets regarding WHO we are and what God has given us, ANYTHING can change. Today a new hope will be born in you!

AWAKEN TO GOD'S GRACE

His grace empowers us to change, to break a habit, or to be free from our past. The river of grace is always flowing. Just step into it and receive!

BELIEVE THAT THE POWER TO CHANGE IS A GIFT

2 Timothy 2:25 says God grants “repentance” or “the power to change” AS A GIFT.

ALL CHANGE BEGINS BY BELIEVING YOU ARE LOVED BY GOD

Romans 2:4b says, “Don’t you realize that it is God’s loving kindness that is trying to lead you to change the way you think and act?”

HIS LOVE AND KINDNESS CHANGES THE WAY WE THINK; THEN THEY CHANGE THE WAY WE ACT

All lasting change begins by surrendering your thought life to the Word of God.

BELIEVE IN THE PROCESS THAT LEADS TO PROGRESS

Don’t worry if it doesn’t happen right away. Jesus touched the blind man once, in Mark 8, and then touched him a second time, before he was completely healed. I believe these next 40 days are going to be your SECOND touch from Jesus.

REDEFINE YOURSELF ONLY AS WHAT GOD SAYS ABOUT YOU

Disconnect from the past definition of your habits, traits, and limitations. You are being changed into His image.

THINK IT AND SAY IT

God has given me the gift to change. My habits, emotions, and life will change by changing the way I think. I submit to the process of renewing my mind, and I expect divine progress. I refuse to accept past definitions and limitations of myself. As I embrace God’s view of me, through His Word, I am being changed into His image, in Jesus’ Name!

Empowering Single Moms - I'm Limited

I'm Limited

play

03/15/23 • 26 min

Today we are fasting from the thought that says, "I'm limited."
Perhaps you've felt limited by your past, your upbringing, or your pain. We all have something we think may limit us.

GOD IS ABLE!

He will do above and beyond all you can ask or think. (Ephesians 3:20) He’s not limited, and so neither are you, because you are made in His image.

MEET JEPHTHAH!

His past told him that he was the son of a prostitute. But God told him he was a mighty warrior (Judges 11:1)! Each one of us has conflicting voices telling us who we are. You must choose God’s version of yourself, rather than people’s version of you. Side with what God says about you.

LEAVE THE ROOM

The father of faith, Abraham, felt confined and limited by his inability to have a child with his wife Sarah. So God brought Abraham out of the house, and told him to look UP and count the stars (Genesis 15:5). Whenever you feel limited, walk outside and look up. Look to God.

YOU CAN ONLY SEE STARS WHEN YOU’RE LOOKING UP!

Repeat step 3 above! Stop looking at the ceiling and start looking at the stars.

GET IN TOUCH WITH YOUR NEW SPIRIT

Your spirit is your vertical window, giving you the ability to look up and see from God’s point of view. Your flesh is your horizontal window, allowing you only to look around at your circumstance or to look back at your past limitations. Open your vertical window and look up, expecting God to do above and beyond all you can ask or think!

LIVING BEYOND YOUR WILDEST EXPECTATIONS AND DREAMS STARTS WITH SOME WILD EXPECTATIONS AND DREAMS!

Dream big. Ask big. Expect big! He will do infinitely above and beyond your highest thoughts and dreams!

DON'T LIMIT GOD

Psalm 78:41 says, “They limited the Holy One of Israel.” (KJV) We limit Him when we think small, dream small, and ask small. Jabez prayed: ENLARGE MY TERRITORY. (1 Chronicles 4:9-10) Ask that today.

THINK IT AND SAY IT

I side with what God says about me today. I am a mighty warrior. I will not be defined or confined by my past. I refuse to be limited by my failure, mistakes, or the limitations others have put on me.
I leave the room where the ceiling is, and I look up. I look up, expecting God to do exceedingly abundantly above and beyond my highest hopes, thoughts, desires, and dreams!
Today I ask God to bless me indeed and enlarge my territory. I refuse to limit Him, and therefore I will break through, in Jesus' Name!

Empowering Single Moms - More Than Conquerors

More Than Conquerors

11/11/21 • 17 min

As Christians, we often hear people quote Romans 8:37, which says we are more than conquerors. For years, I have pondered what being “more than a conqueror” actually means.

I’m sure other people have different interpretations, but I have come to the conclusion that being “more than a conqueror” means you have such confidence that no matter what comes up in your life, you know that through Christ you can handle it. You know before you are ever faced with a problem that you’re going to have victory over it. You believe you can do whatever you need to do in life. Therefore, you don’t dread things, you don’t fear the unknown, and you don’t live in anxiety about what’s going to happen. It doesn’t really matter what the specifics of each situation are, you know you will be victorious through Christ.

Power Thought: I am more than a conqueror through Christ.

So, what do you do when life gets you down?

You remember:

• Being down isn’t the end.

• God is near, even in the darkness.

• Your pain has purpose.

• And you have the strength—through Christ—to get back up.

Speak this over yourself:

“I may be down, but I will rise again.”

“I may be weary, but I’m still walking.”

“I may not see it yet, but God is working.”

Because when life gets you down, your comeback is in motion.

Empowering Single Moms - How to Recover from being BROKEN

How to Recover from being BROKEN

Empowering Single Moms

play

09/16/24 • 25 min

Many of us have suffered through brokenness at different times spiritually, and financially, relationship break ups, job loss, death of a loved one, etc. What we do in our brokenness impacts the timing of our healing process. My divorce broke me into a million little pieces and God healed me even though it didn’t happen overnight. In fact, it’s been a long and difficult journey. However, I’m finally sensing level ground and readiness to step into a different season of my life. How do we recover from being BROKEN?

B – Be still in the Lord.
“Be still, and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10)

This is the time we need to keep the course by what we know is right—praying, reading our Bible, fellowship with God’s people, etc. It’s not easy to push past our brokenness, but we will find our peace if we don’t give up.

R – Reach out for help.
“Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.” (Romans 12:15)

It’s not always easy to reach out for assistance to make it through our pain. However, God uses other people to hold us up through the painful times if we are willing to humble ourselves.

O – Open up to a change in God’s plan and purpose for our lives.
“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” (Isaiah 43:19)

We can get tunnel vision and only see one way for our purpose to be fulfilled. However, God’s plan is always much deeper and broader than what we can know in our finite human abilities.

K – Keep the faith that this brokenness is working for our good.
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified. What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:28-31)

We may not have expected this time of brokenness, but God knew it from before we were born. He’s predestined us to get through this time and work in us His good pleasure leading to a greater purpose.

E – Expect times of difficulty, but recognize that we don’t have to stay there.
“Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning. (Psalm 30:5)

We will have times of weeping and sorrow in our brokenness. Our comfort comes from the hope and peace through the Spirit of Christ—He relates to our sorrow just as He wept on the earth.
N – Next thing...moment by moment.
“Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, ‘If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.’” (James 4:14-15)

Sometimes looking toward the end of the day, week, or month feels like an eternity. We take each moment by moment trusting in the Lord to provide, protect, and meet us right where we are in this season.

Prayer

Dear Lord, I’m broken in this season and need Your help to lead me. I know that my hope and strength reside in You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
