"Know that what you're about to eat not only impacts your health, but it has a profound impact on your ability to love and care for the people in your life."Nearly 4 years ago, a change I made to my plate rocked my world. In just months, I rid myself of lifelong battles with asthma, allergies, arthritis, and countless other issues. What rocked my world even more was a question I began asking myself - why didn't anyone tell me about this? Why didn't any doctor, nutritionist, coach, friend, or anyone present me with this life-changing information? It has become my life mission to make people aware of this information. Information I felt like I was robbed of for the first 25 years of my life. Information that, if you so choose, has the power to drastically alter your health and life.Beyond all the incredible health benefits, I noticed something shift inside me that I struggle to explain. A sense of calm and ease, a sense of true peace within me. This shift has allowed me to truly feel for the first time things like empathy, compassion, and love. This shift has had a profound impact on my ability to connect with and love the people closest to me. It has been the greatest gift I've ever been given. What we choose to put inside of our bodies not only impacts our health, it also impacts our ability to love the people in our lives.I encourage you to think about that. If you struggle to make better eating decisions for your own health, make better decisions for the people you love. Do you, for them.Link to TEDx Video: https://youtu.be/jHkYGWISYEE

Eat Green Make Green - Episode 104: Richard Crowley & The Wellness Ride
play

10/30/19 • 77 min

“The goal of the Wellness Ride was to advocate and deliver wellness. In the process, I lost my own.”On this week’s episode of the Eat Green Make Green Podcast I sit down with the Wild Man of Wellness, Richard Crowley. Richie left his hometown Canton, MA on July 20th by bike. He didn’t stop until he hit the Santa Monica pier in California. He fed over 2,000 plant-based meals to those in need along the way. What started as an act to demonstrate the accessibility of wellness ended in a whole new perspective on people, guns, food, and the pursuit of one’s dreams. We talk about why he chose to ride his bike across the country, the physical challenges of doing so, the places he felt most uncomfortable, how his perspective on guns changed, the accessibility and education of healthy food in various parts of the country, the barriers to wellness that exist in many places, how he ultimately lost his own wellness, and why a dream deferred is the greatest personal tragedy. Hop on into the saddle and enjoy what is always an adventurous ride with the one and only Richie!Show NotesThree If By Bike - East Coast Premiere: https://www.facebook.com/events/2414108465467393/Richie’s Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/rickieticklez/Richie’s Medium: https://medium.com/@rickieticklezRichie’s Creative Agency: https://www.rickiricki.com/Episode SponsorBaking SteelVisit https://www.bakingsteel.com/ and enter “eat green make green” at checkout for 10% off.

Eat Green Make Green - Episode 39: Best of 2017 & The Golden Rule
play

01/02/18 • 60 min

"3 Years ago, the word "vegan" was foreign, scary, crazy, unhealthy, hipster, and not even a thought to me... now I've come to realize it simply embodies a rule I was taught by my mother at a very young age, the Golden Rule."All the way back in March, I decided to start the Eat Green Make Green Podcast in hopes of educating people about the power of living a plant-based/vegan lifestyle with the intent of positively impacting peoples' lives through telling other relatable stories. I committed to doing one episode each week for the entire year. At the time, however, I only knew 3 other vegans: my mom (who I had only recently coerced into giving it a try) and my friends Pete and Carly. Those were my first 3 episodes, and I had no idea how I was going to find a new person each week to continue the show.Well, it turns out that the plant-based/vegan community is filled with absolute studs. People who went out of their way on a day's notice, people who opened their arms to me, their homes to me, their families to me, and shared my passion to help spread the word about the profound health and environmental impacts of our daily decisions. From Boston to LA to London to Singapore and many places in between, I have been absolutely humbled by the amount of love and support I've received.Although my journey started around health, 38 episodes and 39 guests later, veganism for me has taken on a much broader meaning. A meaning I've always agreed with, but had never truly connected the dots. A meaning that almost every person of every color of every religion has heard of... Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Whether you're Black, White, Brown, Yellow, or Orange, whether you're gay, straight, bi, trans, whether you're rich or poor, whether you walk on 2 legs or 4, whether you have skin or fur... we all feel pain and we all desire, in some capacity, to live.3 Years ago, the word "vegan" was foreign, scary, crazy, unhealthy, hipster, and not even a thought to me... now I've come to realize it simply embodies a rule I was taught by my mother at a very young age, the Golden Rule.As many of you know, I end each episode by asking the guest why he or she "eats green." On this week's episode, listen to the many reasons why all my amazing guests live the plant-based/vegan lifestyles.Thank you to everyone I've met or spoken with in 2017. I am beyond excited to continue the podcast, meet more amazing people, and positively impact more lives in 2018.

“It’s kind of weird to say, I’m grateful for the trauma that I’ve experienced in my lifetime, but I definitely am. Through every darkness there is light.”On this week’s episode of the Eat Green Make Green Podcast I sit down with the fabulous Marissa Remy. Marissa is a former national bikini bodybuilding athlete turned Holistic Healer and Coach. We talk about how sexual abuse as a child led to depression, PTSD, endometriosis, and PCOS as a young woman, how she overcame these debilitating issues (despite what doctors told her) by diving into holistic healing, how dis-ease in our bio field, mind and body turns into disease, why living healthy positively impacts those around you, how a video of an owl led to her going plant-based, how going plant-based has impacted her, what her daily wellness routine looks like, why she sleeps with crystals, the breath work techniques she recommends, why she practices water manifestations, and her take on the current state of the world. It’s truly amazing what Marissa has overcome by going all in on healing and wellness. There is a lot covered in this episode, much of which may be new to you or overwhelming. Eat Green Make Green - Episode 100: Chuck Carroll & Overcoming Food Addiction

“Im not Superman. There are thousands of other people that have made this same change. None of them will ever be in a Marvel comic book. None of them are the X Men. They are themselves... You can do it.”On this week’s episode of the Eat Green Make Green Podcast, I sit down with the weight loss champion himself Chuck Carroll. Chuck is the host of the popular Exam Room Podcast, the podcast of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. Chuck also has an incredibly inspiring personal transformation story that he documents on his website The Weight Loss Champion. We talk about how Chuck’s love for fatty salty foods started young with his grandmother’s cooking, how he found himself at 420 pound as a 26 year old, his very real struggle with food addiction, the final straw that led him to commit to changing, how he found a plant-based diet and what it’s done for his health, what he’s learned from interviewing the world’s leading experts on nutrition science, and why anyone can transform themselves and take control of their health, and so much more! I have been crushing vegan pizzas at home since I bought his product, Baking Steel. It’s a steel slab that you put in your oven, and because steel conducts heat so well, you can literally make a Neapolitan or New York style pizza in 3-4 minutes with the perfect crust. It’s like you now have a commercial pizza oven. The pic above is the killer Baking Steel dough (you can order if you’re local to Boston!) with Myokos vegan mozzarella! You can also bake breads and all kinds of stuff. You can even throw it over your stove burners and use it as a skillet and make Beyond burgers or JUST eggs and Beyond sausage. I have never had a sponsor on the show. I truly just love this product and Andris so much that I want to share it!Visit https://www.bakingsteel.com/ and enter “eat green make green” at checkout for 10% off.
