Creativity Wasted - Concert Periscope (Skippy Rose)
play

02/06/23 • 10 min

Idea: Periscopes for short people to use at concerts and music festivals. Also: a periscope view of the crowd might help you avoid danger; stories of being injured at concerts; putting the periscope in a fake head and wearing a trench coat like an Inspector Gadget or Scooby Doo cartoon; ideas for naming it, including Ecstasee, Shakira-to-Shaq, and Peepers

Creativity Wasted - Shock Collars for People (Steve Kaz)
play

01/30/20 • 7 min

Idea: Shock collars or "shock ankle bracelets" for unruly children, comedians who're bombing on stage, or people who're trying to quit smoking. Also, if in public, is it more humane (or less in-humane) to discretely shock someone's ankle or visibly spray them in the face with a spray bottle? Creativity Wasted - Line Up Hair Stencil Helmets (Travis Tehlirian)
play

08/20/20 • 8 min

Idea: Stencils to help people "line up" or "shape up" their own hair using hair clippers. They would wrap around/over your head so you can't misposition them. They'd be designed to precisely fit your specific head by using a scanned 3D image of your head. Also: misunderstanding the word "hairline", the social consequences of messing up your line up, stencils for shaping your beard Christian Royce (twitter.com/ChristianRoyce) David Sutherland (twitter.com/skrtskrtsuther1) Travis Tehlirian (YouTube: BlaspheMass Debate youtube.com/channel/UClsd_pJ1TEjst4C5pva1nzQ) Tom Walma (twitter.com/thomaswalma) Recorded at Broken Knuckle Studio in Waterford, MI (Facebook: Broken Knuckle Studios)

Creativity Wasted - Virtual Commute (Jason Alt)
play

01/22/21 • 13 min

Idea: A virtual-reality simulation of your daily commute to work, to help make you feel like your life has returned to post-Covid normalcy. You'll get the sensation of moving a couple hundred feet every few minutes, just like a real commute. You can simulate driving inconveniences such as stressful traffic jams (by locking the virtual-reality helmet onto your head until you're late logging onto your real work computer), cracked windshields (the crack appears to slowly grow on the VR headset's screen until you pay $65 in real money to get it repaired), and lifespan-reducing smog (by breathing through a pipe which is hooked up to your furnace). There could also be a bus simulation for kids to simulate their daily commute to school, which could include a gadget that throws real spitballs at them to simulate being bullied on a real bus Joe Bates (twitter.com/JoeBatesComedy Comedy Album: https://orcd.co/joe_bates) Jason Alt (twitter.com/JasonEAlt) Joseph Johnson (twitter.com/JJohnsonComedy) Tom Walma (twitter.com/thomaswalma)

Creativity Wasted - Ice Dogs (Tom Walma)

Ice Dogs (Tom Walma)

Creativity Wasted

play

02/25/21 • 19 min

Idea: To use Boston Dynamics robotic dogs to save the lives of people whose hearts have stopped by jumping on their chests and rapidly cooling their bodies, thus giving rescuers an extra hour or two to revive them. Also: "ice dogs" roaming the neighborhood looking for medical emergencies and, in the meantime, serving as police dogs and package delivery dogs; the risk of "ice dogs" sticking to your body like a frozen flagpole; robotic "hot dogs" to prevent malfunctioning "ice dogs" from freezing healthy people to death Matt Harper (twitter.com/MattHarperJokes anotherepisodepodcast.podbean.com twitch.tv/mattopoly83) Brett Mercer (twitter.com/brettmercer_ bigtimegarbage.libsyn.com linktr.ee/Brettmercer) Johnny Mocny (twitter.com/JohnnyMocny linktr.ee/wearemoviespod) Tom Walma (twitter.com/thomaswalma)

Creativity Wasted - Weed Passing Device (Jon Houser)
play

06/10/21 • 17 min

Idea: A device to pass weed across the room to your friends without getting up from the couch. Ideas include a ball with a bong inside which is gyroscopically kept upright ("Ballabong"), an "Inspector Gadget"-style extendable device ("Bong Tongs"), a joint with aerodynamic fins to allow you to throw it like a dart ("Jart") or shoot from a Nerf crossbow ("Crossjoint"), a weed catapult ("Cannapult"), and beach balls filled by a Volcano vaporizor ("99 Luftvapeballons"). Also: weed on Mars; dodgebong or "hot potato" where you smoke the potato; the best-case scenario for being hit in the face Jon Houser (https://jonhousercomedy.com twitter.com/JonHouserComedy) Travis Hargan (https://www.mrhahahargan.com) Jeremy Shipley (facebook.com/jeremy.shipley.359) Tom Walma (https://creativitywasted.com twitter.com/thomaswalma)

Creativity Wasted - Keg Foot Pedal and Beer Can Football (Jon Houser)
play

06/17/21 • 8 min

Idea: A foot pump for a keg, so you can use both of your hands to dispense the beer without having to also use a hand pump. Also, a Nerf-like football with a "beer bong" or beer can inside of it, so you can toss it to a friend instead of walking all the way over to them. Also: drug dealing by throwing a football with drugs inside of it; something you can throw or launch out of your car (like a balloon or a drone) to dispose of drugs after you get pulled over; cops shooting at balloons Jon Houser (https://jonhousercomedy.com twitter.com/JonHouserComedy) Travis Hargan (https://www.mrhahahargan.com) Jeremy Shipley (facebook.com/jeremy.shipley.359) Tom Walma (https://creativitywasted.com twitter.com/thomaswalma)

Creativity Wasted - Electronic Wedding Ring (Tom Walma)
play

01/05/21 • 7 min

Idea: An electronic wedding ring that can log when and where you take it off, to prevent cheaters from taking off their wedding rings. Although, if sunspots knock out the GPS satellites, it'd be like "Cheater Christmas". And in the future, when most people have "augmented reality" glasses, the glasses could augment how other people see the married person, to either make them appear uglier or hide them behind a "digital burka" so people aren't attracted to them Originally from Creativity Wasted episode 56 Jacqui Marpa (twitter.com/JacquiMarpa) Amanda Brewington (facebook.com/amanda.brewington) Tom Walma (twitter.com/thomaswalma) Recorded at Podcast Detroit (https://PodcastDetroit.com)

Creativity Wasted - Work Excuses App (Jeff Ford)
play

01/05/21 • 7 min

Idea: An app to give you ideas for excuses for missing work or being late for work. It could help you physically harm yourself or provide other fake evidence to make your chosen excuse more believable. It could keep track of the excuses you've already given, and also track the overall success rate of each excuse. It could tally the total loss to the economy from people getting away with missing work because of the app. It could blackmail people who used the app by threatening to rat them out to their bosses Originally from Creativity Wasted episode 55 Justin McLeod (twitter.com/jibtron_zero) Jeff Ford (twitter.com/Comicjeff10) Tom Walma (twitter.com/thomaswalma) Recorded at Podcast Detroit (https://PodcastDetroit.com)

Creativity Wasted - In 5 Hours Energy (Justin Hicks)
play

03/09/24 • 16 min

Idea: A delayed-release pill or drink to give you energy in 5 hours so (for example) you can wake up with full energy instead of having to make coffee and wait for it to kick in. Also: it could also contain instant-release Melatonin to both help you sleep now and help you wake up later; springing up when you wake up like Bruce Willis in "Pulp Fiction" and sending the pet who was sleeping on your chest flying across the room; using it on your shared-custody kids so their energy kicks in shortly after you drop them off; similar products called "In 5 Hours Alcohol" to mellow you out during an early afternoon work meeting and "In 5 Hours Nicotine" to help you cope with the stress of a visit to the in-laws
