Ep. 11: WE ARE BACK - Q&A with Khadijah
Content Corner
07/20/22 • 28 min
Hey, everybody! After three (long) months, we are back on the air. I decided to keep it light and fun with a Q&A episode. It also gave me the chance to ease back into things. I hope you enjoy, and we'll be back with marketing-focused stuff next week.

When I'm not doing marketing stuff, I spend some of my time studying interior design. This time last year, I enrolled in a diploma program and have been at it ever since. In looking back through some of my notes, I noticed a lot of parallels between the principles of design and marketing. The principles are: harmony, emphasis, rhythm, balance, and proportion/scale. In this episode, I break down my thoughts further.

Ep. 03: Information Architecture and Content Marketing
Content Corner
11/25/21 • 11 min
This episode is a quick little chat about Information Architecture, and my favourite lessons from How to Make Sense of Any Mess by Abby Covert.
All of the lessons around language, in particular, resonated with me, and I think that anyone looking to improve their communication or context-switching skills can benefit from this read.
Would love to chat more about this with you!! Connect with me on Twitter or IG: @plmmrkhdjh

Ep. 07: What makes a good story?
Content Corner
02/09/22 • 11 min
For today's episode, I decided to scale back to the general elements of what a good story needs (in my opinion). My top five elements are: plot, structure, characters, climax, and conclusion. Out of these, I believe that structure, climax, and conclusion are the easiest to translate into content marketing work. What are your thoughts? Click to hear mine.

I realized that I said "balance between revenue and numbers" in the audio... that was my bad. Over the years, my perception around who is supposed to care about the numbers in an organization. I used to think it was just sales or anyone with a numbers-oriented role, but I realized that the tie between sales and marketing runs very deep, and that everyone should have a general idea of how the relevant numbers within the business are trending towards overall company goals.

Ep. 06: The power of storytelling
Content Corner
01/26/22 • 10 min
Before my days as a content marketer, I've always loved and appreciated a good story. When you start writing or creating on behalf of a brand, the first thing you have to do is understand the story that they're trying to tell. If there isn't a story yet, that may be where you come in. A brand's story should include details about who they are as a brand, what they do, how what they do helps, and why they do it. In my view, these are the core building blocks for a consistent and powerful brand story.

Ep. 05: Why reading is crucial to job success
Content Corner
01/20/22 • 12 min
This episode was a bit more of a story time format! I was reflecting on my journey through life as a reader, and sharing ways that it's helped me out in my job. Even if you're not into reading right now, I hope that my tips and learnings inspire you to start. You don't have to be into long works of literature to get something out of the practice of reading; just start and stay consistent!

Hello and welcome back to Content Corner! After our Christmas Break, we're back with a super casual reflection episode about an interview question I got early on in my journey towards becoming a Content Marketing Manager. The question was this: Are you more of a writer or an editor?
We have both parts of the equation working together inside of us, but this could be a good time to reflect on which one you identify with more, what you excel with when it comes to being a writer vs. an editor, and likewise, areas that you can improve on.
Whether you're a content marketer or an interviewer, I would love to hear your take on this, some of the results of your reflection, or even what candidates in the market are saying in response to this question (should you choose to ask it).

While interviewing for my current role, my now manager and I were talking about how the intersection between content, product, and growth marketing is very strong. I was coming from a role as a Growth Marketer, and was nervous about how well my skillset would transfer. As it turns out, pretty well.
There are six main areas I feel that these roles cross over: Content creation, promotion, distribution, cross-functional relationship, reporting/data interpretation, and customer interaction.
