The last three winters she has dedicated to training in Nazaré where she now resides--believed to hold the tallest waves on the planet. This February, right before Europe went into lockdown due to COVID-19, she surfed the biggest wave of her career which is now being considered for the Guinness World Records. Maya Gabeira currently holds the world record at 68 feet (20.72 meters) for the largest wave ever ridden by a female surfer.
