Bad Movies & Beer - Episode 71 - Double Team (1997)
play

10/07/22 • 59 min

This week Cooper and Nolan are balling out with a movie that's at least twice as ridiculous as the last Jean Claude Van Damme movie they covered... DOUBLE TEAM!

As if casting Dennis Rodman as JCVD's mismatched buddy (and allowing him to sing on the soundtrack) wasn't confusing enough, the producers fill the screen with so many abnormally large explosions, pieces of broken glass, and nameless characters shooting at each other that it becomes practically impossible to tell what's going on. But don't worry, they also manage to include literally every action movie cliché you can think of.

It's a complete mess of a movie, but one that the guys were THRILLED to receive as an audience request. So get ready to join the team; this episode (featuring a beer from Double Trouble Brewing Co.) is one that doesn't play by the rules!

Bad Movies & Beer - Episode 126 - Hard Ticket to Hawaii (1987)
play

10/24/24 • 56 min

Cooper and Nolan are headed for paradise this week when they buy a HARD TICKET TO HAWAII!

This legendary piece of 80s cheese features embarrassing dialogue, laughable special effects, and some of the worst acting ever captured on film. But what it lacks in production value it makes up for in sheer, unbridled enthusiasm... for nudity.

With that list of ingredients it's no wonder the guys have had this movie on THEIR list since Day 1. So book your ticket today; this episode (featuring a beer from Spearhead Brewing Company) is a trip you'll never forget!

Bad Movies & Beer - Episode 135 - Foxy Brown (1974)
play

02/24/25 • 58 min

Cooper and Nolan aren't messing around this week when they meet FOXY BROWN!

This Blaxploitation classic was meant to be a sequel to Coffy, and with the many, MANY things they have in common it really shows. Which is great news for the guys, since they both feel like they rated Coffy too low back in Season 2.

Are familiar genre features and the welcome presence of Pam Grier enough to put this thing on top? Or will the absence of hooker fights and a questionable big bad send it straight downtown?

The answer is floating around in here somewhere, so open the jar on this episode (featuring a beer from Amsterdam Brewing Co.) and find out!

Bad Movies & Beer - Episode 116 - Stone Cold (1991)
play

03/28/24 • 57 min

Cooper and Nolan are revving up for intense 90s action this week when they cover STONE COLD!

What happens when former NFL linebacker Brian "The Boz" Bosworth goes undercover to bring down a notorious biker gang known as The Brotherhood? The answer involves fist fights, motorcycle chases, and a LOT of explosions. Like a ridiculous amount, and the guys are running through all of it.

They'll also decide once and for all where The Boz ranks on the all-time list of football players turned actors, so come along for the ride; this episode (featuring a beer from El Segundo Brewing) definitely won't leave you cold.

Bad Movies & Beer - Episode 128 - The Running Man (1987)
play

11/18/24 • 59 min

Cooper and Nolan are making a break for it this week when they cover THE RUNNING MAN!

Based on a novel by Steven King, this action packed piece of 80s sci-fi makes some surprisingly accurate predictions about the future, and features what is arguably an underrated Arnold Schwarzenegger performance.

Is that enough to overcome the paper thin characters, questionable fashion choices, and heavy handed social commentary of the era? Maybe not, but the guys are having a great time either way.

So get ready to hit the ground running; this episode (featuring a beer from Dawson Trail Craft Brewing) is one game you'll be glad you played.

Bad Movies & Beer - Episode 75 - Streets of Fire (1984)
play

11/04/22 • 52 min

Cooper and Nolan are turning up the heat this week with STREETS OF FIRE!

Armed with a killer soundtrack and a before-they-were-star-studded cast, a lot of people thought this movie had a chance to be something great. And maybe - in another time, another place - it could have, but apparently NOT in 1984.

The guys may never agree on what caused this one to fail (Bad acting? B-movie vibes? Too many motorcycle explosions?), but they both agree that it deserved better.

So get ready to take it to the streets! This episode (featuring a beer from the Old Flame Brewing Co.) is one you'll want to sing about.

Bad Movies & Beer - Episode 84 - The Howling (1981)
play

03/03/23 • 54 min

There's a full moon out on the podcast tonight, and Cooper and Nolan have returned from their mid-season break to talk about THE HOWLING!

This early Joe Dante movie may be beloved by horror fans, but is it more of a dog than a wolf? The guys aren't sure, especially since the quality of the effects, music, and acting all vary WILDLY from scene to scene (pun intended). But that doesn't mean it wasn't a good time, thanks in no small part to a surprising amount of sexual content.

So if you're feeling frisky, let your fur down! This episode (featuring a beer from Rusty Rail Brewing) is one you'll want to sink your teeth into.

Bad Movies & Beer - Episode 15 - Conan the Destroyer (1984)
play

12/16/20 • 44 min

This week Cooper and Nolan travel back to the days of high adventure when they discuss CONAN THE DESTROYER! It's Arnold Schwarzenegger's second outing as Conan, and he's got a lot to deal with - cannibals, wizards, André the Giant - not to mention the unenviable task of protecting a princess' virginity when NBA Hall of Famer Wilt Chamberlain is around. It's exactly the kind of low budget 80s nonsense the guys have come to expect from producer Dino De Laurentiis, and this episode (featuring a beer from Fairweather Brewing Co.) adds another layer to the legend.
