The Show Starts Now Studios in collaboration with the Norman Arts Council, The Depot, and OkSessions presents Art & Victory, a free monthly panel discussion series designed for creative entrepreneurs. The theme for the June panel was Writing Stories, which included topics such as writing characters different than yourself, overcoming writer’s block, world–building, and more.

ABOUT THE PANELISTS

Marisa Mohi is a writer, blogger, and YouTuber. She loves reading, watching, and telling stories. You should know that she’s working on a novel and her planner is at least twice as big as yours. You can check out her blog at MarisaMohi.com, or watch her videos at YouTube.com/MarisaMohi.

Chad Reynolds is the co-founder of Penny Candy Books. A graduate of Emerson College’s Writing, Literature, and Publishing Program with a Master’s in Creative Writing, Chad is the author of five chapbooks of poetry. He is the co-founder of Short Order Poems, a performance art group that brings poetry to people in surprising ways, but mostly via old typewriters. Prior to Penny Candy Books, Chad worked as a commercial insurance broker with a focus on renewable energy projects and as an English teacher. He lives in Oklahoma City with his wife, two sons, and a dog.

Norman H. Hammon is a Norman-based writer and a consultant to nonprofits. He spends his days writing grant proposals for Jazz in June, the Norman PHIL and NAMRON Players Theatre and his remaining time writing columns for the Norman Transcript, and others, as well as a sequel to his science fiction work, OUTWORLD by N. Harold Donley (his pseudonym). He is also the author of Fund Raising ... for the rest of us and speaks throughout the state on all matters nonprofit. A graduate of the University of Oklahoma a couple of times over (BSW & MSW) he lives in the Core of Norman with his wife Sheryl and cat Gracie. He currently teaches Grant Writing for the Arts at the University of Oklahoma Weitzenhoffer Family College of Fine Arts and serves as a grant reviewer for the Oklahoma Arts Council and National Endowment for the Arts.
