Happy Pride Month everyone! With it being the last Thursday of Pride Month, Sofia had to spotlight one of her favourite local luxe fragrance brands, Heim Goods, where the owner's Matt and Parker just so happen to be part of the LGBTQ+ community.
In this episode, Matt and Parker describe their journey of creating a new business during the pandemic, what previous experiences have helped them develop their own branding, and micro ways you can support and encourage other LQBTQ+ and minority businesses no matter how big or small your budget may be.
Heim Goods not only helps you create beautiful spaces at home, but they also give back to the community by giving a percentage of all sales to the Covenant House to help at-risk youth in Vancouver BC.

Revisting an oldie, but a goodie while Sofia's voice recovers!
This week's topic is on all the things SKIN! Sofia had the chance to sit down and talk with a cosmetic injector, skincare expert, Laser Technician and LPN Montana Brown. Montana shared her favourite skincare ingredients for beautiful and healthy skin at every age, as well as some skincare secrets for preventing pesky fine lines and wrinkles.

This episode also goes way deep into the World of botox and facial filler. Montana helps to debunk common myths around botox and facial filler while explaining what you can expect before and after treatment. For those looking at getting a little ‘something something’ whether it is a chemical peel, medical facial, or injectable, expect to hear advice for finding a clinic and practitioner that you can trust, and what red flags to look out for. Sofia also asks Montana to give us the 411 on “Baby Botox”, who could be a candidate for it, and how it’s different from a regular botox treatment.

In this episode, Sofia was able to chat with formulation and skincare expert Brandy Searcy. Brandy is a terrific resource for understanding what ingredients help, and which ones hurt your skin, and you can bet Sofia asked her all about it! They get into Brandy's own skin journey, how she had to be an advocate for herself and found holistic approaches, and how that lead her to create her own vegan, and sustainable skincare line!
About Brandy:
Brandy's a formulation scientist and self-proclaimed health geek who loves hiking, gardening, bird-watching, and bodyboarding.

Her struggle with acne during her teens and 20s led to a holistic and healthy approach to skincare, embracing skin as an organ to be loved and cared for rather than a canvas to wage war on.

Since 2008, she's been developing all-in-one products for a simple routine at home, & the idea for Rain Organica really took shape when her backpacking friends asked for a portable skincare routine to keep their skin healthy & happy on and off the trails. You can simplify your routine at home and while traveling with Rain Organica’s simple & sustainable skincare.

Join Sofia as she sits down with Empowered Leadership Coach and CEO and Founder of BAM Dance Ali Phillips. In this episode, Sofia and Ali talk about their experiences growing up as dancers and how dance affected relationships with their bodies, health, food and how it eventually led to Ali starting her own company that teaches dance classes to those with disabilities when she was just 17. This episode is packed with valuable tips for knowing how to begin trusting yourself, how to step into your role as a leader, and how to have your business develop with your own personal growth. You can also expect to feel inspired to improve your morning routine through meditation, mindfulness, and manifestation. We have to include that Ali’s Australian accent is pretty easy to listen to as well.

About Ali’s Company Bust a Move Dance

“Bust A Move (BAM) Dance was founded in 2009 after our Director Ali Phillips was invited to assist Big Night Out – a monthly social event for young adults with disabilities in Brisbane, Australia. It was immediately apparent how much joy dance brought the participants, allowing them the opportunity to be themselves. BAMD classes began after an invitation to hold structured dance classes for these same young adults and over the years has been in high demand and has experienced exceptional growth. Now BAMD runs multiple classes per week internationally in AUSTRALIA and CANADA with the hopes to grow as the years continue.”
