Saunders began his coaching career as an assistant at Portsmouth in 1981. Assistant coach at Indiana University 33rd season guiding the Dublin Coffman High School Shamrocks 40th season in coaching overall. Inducted into the Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2004 Central District Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2005 National High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame 2012 (The first coach from Ohio to be inducted) Career record of 589-393 10 League Titles Division I State Semifinal Appearance in 2000 Ohio High School Division 1 Baseball State Champion in 2001
