Episode 29: Intentional Shopping
A Day at a Time with Hannah Turk
11/18/20 • 14 min
Mercari.com is a resell and secondhand site that I really love! Obviously for gift giving you need to be a little more discriminating, but for our family it has been a big win! Full disclosure, the link is a referral link, so I get a small credit if you do choose to sign up and buy anything, but I love this website and use it all the time, I would recommend it no matter what!
I use multiple apps to look into a company or product before I buy, so I can know how I am 'voting' and if it aligns with my values. Good On You is an app that rates clothing and accessory companies based on their environmental impact, as well as their ethics in labor and animals. It is a good place to start, but their rating is only as good as their database...I've run into a couple companies that rated low in ethical labor, although I know that they ensure a fair and living wage to their workers. Fortunately they do admit when their rating is based on incomplete information!
HowGood is like Good On You, but for food. Seeing how a company or product rates is broken down into so many steps, from planting to selling. Really helpful for finding fair trade items!
Goods Unite Us is a resource that tells where companies (and important figures within those companies) spend their money on political campaigns. Their database is huge and very detailed!
Although the app is not the most flashy, Black Nation is a good resource when looking for Black owned small businesses. It is not an exhaustive list, but if you are searching primarily by category than it is a great starting point!
Dinner tonight is Rosemary Garlic White Bean Soup from BudgetBytes.com. I'm loving this new recipe resource, and I'm sure I'll love this super easy soup! The rest of the meals for the whole week are here, or at adayatatimepodcast.com/meal-plan.

Episode 3: Ch-Ch-Changes
A Day at a Time with Hannah Turk
05/20/20 • 10 min
Show Notes
A picture of where the bassinet was next to our bed, and a little reflection.
Dinner tonight! Cream Cheese Stuffed Everything Chicken is another new one for me, but it sounds AMAZING. I can't wait to try it...easy prep, too! Here is my meal plan for this whole week, if you're interested in more meal ideas.
The bed my husband made for our toddler. She absolutely loves it, and especially loves sitting on the 'bench' to read.
Psst...this week I made almond butter...and it turned out great! It was also MUCH cheaper to make myself out of a whole big bag of almonds. Here's the instructions I used if you want to try it yourself!

Episode 2: Accidental Fasting...Like a Mom
A Day at a Time with Hannah Turk
05/13/20 • 9 min
Show Notes
A guide to intermittent fasting...I'm not going to say it's the right answer to reach your fitness goals, but maybe it's just a (mom) way of life!
Dinner tonight! Lasagna Soup is a new one for me, so we will see how it goes. But with cheese, pasta, quick prep, and the instant pot, I feel like I can't really go wrong.
Mother Could's recipe for Rainbow Rice...a lot of my friends were doing this and I'm finally jumping on the bandwagon. Also, check out her blog for other great activity ideas!
If you feel so inclined to try making butter, here's a recipe...or really, directions. Fair warning though, while it may say 5-10 minutes of mixing, it took me about 30. So plan accordingly!

Episode 56: Figuring Out Summer
A Day at a Time with Hannah Turk
07/08/21 • 16 min
The Busy Toddler Summer Bucket List is a great place to start to look for those fun once (or more) a week activities. The types of activities and prep needed to do them varies, making it perfect for all kinds of kids and all kinds of moms!
Tonight's dinner is Instant Pot Beef and Broccoli. It is paleo, Whole30, GF, DF, in the Instant Pot, quick, and easy. I'm hoping that splurging on the 'nice' beef will make it an extra yummy dinner for all of us! The meal plan for the rest of the week is here, or at adayatatimepodcast.com/meal-plans.
The book we've all been enjoying in the last week is Stuck by Oliver Jeffers. It's a cute (and hilarious) story of a little boy who gets his kite stuck up in a tree and tries throwing up all sorts of things to get it down. I wouldn't say there is any sort of message to the book, but it is still such a delightful read. There is also a card deck to play Go Fish with that has all of the illustrations on it! We've really enjoyed the combination of those things in our house lately.

Episode 55: Keeping Them Alive
A Day at a Time with Hannah Turk
06/10/21 • 12 min
Tonight's dinner is Pesto Chicken and Veggies. I made it last week and *almost* everyone ate it, so I'm using up the ingredients making it again this week. The meal plan for the rest of the week is here, or at adayatatimepodcast.com/meal-plans.
In the last week both kids have been OBSESSED with Melissa and Doug Poke-A-Dot books...and I have been enjoying them too! The stories are almost secondary, but they have so many different ones to choose from that you can even still get one with a topic interesting to any kiddo. Highly recommend for interactive reading, counting (depending on the book), fine motor, and even cause and effect!

Episode 54: Figuring Out Birthday Parties
A Day at a Time with Hannah Turk
06/04/21 • 11 min
Tonight's dinner is Enchilada Pasta, and I have a good feeling that everyone will like it...either the enchilada part, or the pasta part! The meal plan for the rest of the week is here, or at adayatatimepodcast.com/meal-plans.
This week we have had two books on repeat, one for each kid. For the little guy, Little Blue Truck is an everyday (multiple times a day) hit. For my Kiddo, Smoot: A Rebellious Shadow is both engaging and hilarious to her.

Episode 53: Average Days
A Day at a Time with Hannah Turk
05/27/21 • 13 min
Tonight's dinner is Bruschetta Chicken, and there is no recipe link because I made it up! The meal plan for the rest of the week is here, or at adayatatimepodcast.com/meal-plans.
This week's book is The Moonkeeper, by Zosienka. An adorable picture book that introduces kids to phases of the moon, we have loved reading it over and over and doing extension activities to learn more.

Episode 52: The Perfect Mom, Part 2
A Day at a Time with Hannah Turk
05/20/21 • 11 min
Diary of an Honest Mom is SO funny on Instagram, and real. It's comforting to know that I'm not the only one who struggles with normal things, or feels overwhelmed. Libby is a great one to laugh with about the real life of motherhood.
Tonight's dinner is Picadillo, if I remember to get the crockpot going. Lucky for me it only needs 4 hours, which means I have until quiet time to get it started...extra points for a great dinner! The meal plan for the rest of the week is here, or at adayatatimepodcast.com/meal-plans.

Episode 51: The Perfect Mom

Tonight's dinner is Apple Sausage Hash. Honestly, I am unsure if it is a side dish or a main dish...wouldn't be the first time though, right? The meal plan for the rest of the week is here, or at adayatatimepodcast.com/meal-plans.

This author really gets at what I am trying to say. Her article, which is her own experience and perspective, talks about our attempts to label our own parenting and sometimes use our labels to put down or exclude others.
Becca has some great recommendations and tips for today! You can find the piddle pad here (ALL THE PEE, GUYS) and the cleaning set I have here (although now I think I need this one!).
Dinner tonight is Turkey Pumpkin White Bean Chili. I'm so excited to get back into chilis, I think I'm going to try for one a week. The rest of the meals for the whole week are here, or at adayatatimepodcast.com/meal-plan.
