The Art of Crime is a history podcast about the unlikely collisions between true crime and the arts. We take painstaking research and craft it into compelling stories that teach you about society and culture.
Each new season covers a different theme. Season 3 is titled "Queen of Crime: Madame Tussaud and the Chamber of Horrors." Just in time for Women's History Month, this season chronicles the long and distinguished career of Madame Tussaud, one of the most celebrated show-women of her day, kicking off in pre-revolutionary France and wrapping up in Victorian London. At the same time, "Queen of Crime" tracks the evolution of the Chamber of Horrors, a special showroom in Tussaud's wax museum that exhibited macabre curiosities, including effigies of notorious murderers.
Season 2 is titled "Assassins." It profiles artists who have committed, attempted, or at least been implicated in an assassination. Also check out Season 1, "The Unusual Suspects: Artists Accused of Being Jack the Ripper."

Welcome to the True Crime BnB! I'm Beth, your host, and I started this podcast with my daughter Bailey, creating a format where one of us would tell a rough story about a case, and the other would end every episode with an inspiring story focused on strength and survival. We wanted to remember victims, and celebrate survivors.

Now that I'm solo, some episodes are collaborations with podcaster friends who bring a case to share, and we continue the 'downer' and 'upper' format that Bailey and I created. Sometimes I release what I call Just One B episodes, where it's just me, telling true crime case stories that you've never heard before. I focus on cases that didn't get much publicity, because those people still deserve to be remembered.

I will never glamourize the criminals. This place is for the victims and the survivors. This is the True Crime BnB.

By offering an unfiltered perspective on these cases, "Sword and Scale" presents listeners with an unvarnished look at the often grim realities of the human psyche.

However, it's important to note that the intense content of "Sword and Scale" has sparked discussions about ethical considerations within the true crime genre. Some listeners and critics have raised concerns about the show's handling of sensitive topics and its potential to sensationalize tragedy. This controversy highlights the fine line that true crime podcasts often tread between providing an authentic glimpse into criminal behavior and avoiding the exploitation of victims and their stories.

If you're someone who values a candid exploration of the darkest aspects of human nature and is prepared for the emotional impact that such content can have, "Sword and Scale" might be a podcast worth exploring. Just be aware that its content is not for the faint of heart, and it's important to approach it with sensitivity and a critical perspective.

True Crime Garage podcast

"True Crime Garage" is for those looking for a unique blend of true crime storytelling and a touch of camaraderie. Hosted by two friends, this podcast stands out by combining discussions of gripping criminal cases with the laid-back ambiance of craft beer tasting. They delve into the details of cases from various angles, exploring evidence, theories, and potential motives. By presenting different viewpoints, the podcast encourages listeners to engage in critical thinking and draw their own conclusions about the mysteries at hand.

The incorporation of craft beer into the podcast adds an element of informality and conversational flow. It feels as though you're listening to friends dissect intriguing cases while enjoying a casual get-together. This unique format creates a sense of connection between the hosts and the audience, making it an excellent choice for those who appreciate a blend of thought-provoking content and a relaxed atmosphere.

Our card this season is Darlene Hulse, the 4 of Hearts from Indiana. Darlene Hulse was forcibly taken from her home in Argos, Indiana on August 17, 1984. Her two oldest daughters witnessed the attack but they didn’t recognize the man who took their mother. Though Darlene’s body would be found a day later, just six miles from her home, her killer has evaded law enforcement for almost four decades and the investigation has remained cold...until now.

What happens when a double homicide case lands in your lap? What if it is the oldest active cold case in the history of American true crime? What if your father held a family secret for fifty years before he confided in you that one of the victims was your great-great uncle and that your grandfather had been held as a suspect? What if the murders happened during the most corrupt era our nation has ever known? And what if you are a retired detective, like me, with the unique skill set needed to figure out an 87-year-old family mystery? Well, you put everything else on hold and set out to solve it. This is my story. Shattered Souls: The Car Barn Murders is presented by CrimeOnline and iHeartPodcasts. Music by Sam Johnson
