Mishary Rashid Alafasy is born on September 5th, 1976, Mishary Rashid Alafasy or full for Mishary Rashid Ghareeb Mohammed Rashid Al-Afasy (also nicknamed Abu Nora ), is an eminent and prolific Imam and an excellent Qur’an reciter hailing from Kuwait. The Holy Quran was the subject of this Imam’s keen interest and learning and hence, it came as no surprise when he memorized the Book of Allah in a few years itself.Besides his melodious and emotional voice, he has managed to grab the attention of the bigwigs in the field of Islamic knowledge such as Sheikh Ibrahim Ali Shehata Al-Samanodi, the Sheikh Abdur Area Radwan, and also the great sheikh Ahmed Abdulaziz Al-Zaiat.The next step was his decision to pursue his higher education at the Islamic and Quranic university of Madinah, Saudi Arabia. The two famous links of the recitation of the Quran: TV Alafasy and Alafasy Q are managed by this great Imam and rightfully so. In a similar manner, numerous TV channels and radio stations have taken pride in broadcasting all his highly commendable productions. Currently, Mishary Rashid Alafasy is leading the prayers as an Imam at Masjid Al-Kabir in Kuwait.

There is a widespread perception in the West that we live in a secular age, an age in which religion is at best an optional extra, if not a false delusion completely out of place. However, religion still arouses passion and causes controversy; it controls and transforms lives. An informed understanding of the contemporary world thus requires an appreciation of the role of religion in shaping ideas, world-views and actions that have an impact on the social as well as on the personal life of the individual. This unit gives you a glimpse into this fascinating area. This study unit is just one of many that can be found on LearningSpace, part of OpenLearn, a collection of open educational resources from The Open University. Published in ePub 2.0.1 format, some feature such as audio, video and linked PDF are not supported by all ePub readers.

We all want to enter Jannah but are we sincerely striving for it? There are multiple ways to attain the pleasure of Allah SWT and enter His Jannah. Allah SWT has made it easy for us to enter His Jannah but some of us forget this due to an ‘attachment’ to this temporary worldly life!Whoever meets Allah without ascribing anything to Him will enter Jannah. (Sahih al-Bukhari)Whoever believes (has Imaan) in Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him), and establishes the prayer and fasts in the month of Ramadan, it is incumbent upon Allah that He enters him in Jannah. (Sahih al-Bukhari)Whoever says: “I am pleased with Allah as my Rabb, and with Islam as my Deen, and with Muhammad (peace be upon him) as my Prophet, Jannah would be mandatory for him. (Sunan Abu Dawud)Whoever asks Allah for Jannah three times, Jannah will say: “O Allah, enter him into Jannah.” (Jami` at-Tirmidhi)O Allah, You are my Lord, none has the right to be worshipped except You, You created me and I am Your servant and I abide by Your covenant and promise as best I can, I take refuge in You from the evil of which I committed. I acknowledge Your favour upon me and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for verily none can forgive sin except You.May Allah The Almighty guide us, forgive all our sins, help us to stay firm on the right path and unite all of us with our family and friends in His Jannat-ul-Firdause. Ameen.

Hi Everyone! Welcome to my podcast, my name is Yara and I'm thrilled that you decided to share your time with me. I started this podcast because I'm currently on a journey of drawing myself closer to Allah (swt) and I started this journey because I realised how much I don't know about islam, and I also don't engage with the Quran and the sunnah of our Prophet Mohamed (PBUH) nearly as much as I should. So I decided to dedicate more of my time to learning more about my religion, and I thought one of the ways to keep myself accountable ( and maybe help someone out) is to share what I'm learning through this podcast.
It's my pleasure to have you on this journey with me, and I pray that it inspires you to start your own journey towards Allah (swt).
1st Disclaimer: I am in no way a scholar or a person who is devoted to islamic studies. Please don't take what I'm sharing too literally, I'm merely expressing my opinions (that really don't matter) 2nd Disclaimer: As an Egyptian I know the content I share should be mainly in Egyptian Arabic, but the environment I grew up in makes that a bit difficult. So in order to express myself freely, the podcast will mainly be in both English and Egyptian. If that's not your cup of tea then this podcast isn't for you. Everything I'm learning sparks all different kinds of questions and debates in my mind, so take this food for thought and hopefully it sparks even better questions in yours.
