Stories of Families Ripped Apart by Qanon. When the covid-19 vaccines began to roll out in Canada, my brother and I made a concerning discovery: my parents had bought into the Qanon conspiracies. What ensued was two months of arguing in email, just trying to get them to get vaccinated. They are both in their 70s, and our father has had some medical issues that caused concern when the pandemic began. It was crucial to get them vaccinated. In an unexpected turn of events, after months of arguing, they finally agreed. I went with them, and I witnessed them both get vaccinated. They insisted that they finally realized the conspiracy theories had duped them, and all seemed to be well again. But, at the beginning of 2022, my brother noticed that our parents had drained several of their investment and banking accounts. When he confronted them, it became clear: they were deeper into Q than ever before. We don't know where the money is or the full extent of the conspiracy theories they have accepted, but we do know one thing: the people who raised us are gone. In their place are two strangers and a lot of hurt. I have decided to funnel this sadness and anger into a project to raise awareness about what Qanon is doing to families and relationships. Qanon is everywhere. In every country. They could be your family, your friends, your neighbours. They could be your lawyers, your doctors, or your police officers. They can even be your elected representatives. But what no one is talking about is how they are destroying relationships. They are Qanon, and these are the stories of the people who love them.

Marc Headley worked at Scientology’s secret desert compound, which houses all Scientology management, for 15 years. The 500-acre property is located deep in the California desert. The local townspeople were told lectures and films were made there. But is that all that was happening? It is the location of a multi-million dollar home for L. Ron Hubbard, built two decades after his death. It is the home of Scientology’s current leader, David Miscavige. So what really happens at the Int Base? Are the stories on the internet true? How does Scientology conduct management of its day-to-day operations? Could stories of armed guards, weapons, staff beatings, and razor wire fences be true? If so, how could a facility like this exist in modern-day America? Hundreds of staff tried to escape over the years. Some succeeded but were never seen or heard of again, and most failed. Why were people kept here? What really went on at the headquarters of Scientology? This is the story of what happened behind the Iron Curtain of Scientology.

In late 2010, a middle-aged man moved into his daughter's college dorm and created what has all the hallmarks of a cult. Over the decade that followed, he extorted millions of dollars from vulnerable young adults through violence, psychological torture, and forced sex work. Actress and Director Elisabeth Rohm narrates Law&Crime's 6-part investigative series, which draws from thousands of pages of transcripts, exhibits, audio files, and video recordings from a federal trial and explores the actions and motives of Larry Ray. Artists Escaping Cults - Podcast - Documentary - Series

Follow the Witness Underground Podcast as we dive in to stories of artists escaping cults from around the globe.
Build that ecclectic playlist with art from people who successfully navigated cult mind control. Created by the team who brought the award winning feature documentary by the same name, the director and featured artists interview fascinating artists, musicians, actors, directors, authors etc. who also left a cult. Through making our documentary, artists all over the world emerged with amazing music, art, and stories. Listen in and let us know what you think.
Film short synopsis:Witness Underground is a feature documentary that reveals the insular DIY music community that emerged within a high-control cult. Music, fame, and success are typically forbidden in this faith, who instruct its members to “beware of independent thinking.”

The artists at the heart of the music scene have their faith tested in deeply personal ways. They battle for positive mental health and push the boundaries of their religion’s norms, where leaving means being banned from interacting with your entire family and social circle for life.

Although severely restricted, they create the record label Nuclear Gopher and produce over 30 albums of earnest and personal music that spans singer/songwriter, riot grrrl, psychedelic rock, pop, EDM, shoegaze, and post-rock. Carefully curated songs and live performances punctuate their stories of friendship, deep loss, and personal growth.Watch the film - Follow the podcastWitnessUnderground.comWatch:
